Scheduling through an ERP system is not only a manufacturing/engineering companies best friend but a necessity when managing a multitude of moving parts through the shop floor and still delivering on those all-important customer due dates. Providing complete visibility of all tasks and resources required to complete an order, scheduling gives the power of pro-active decision making resulting in consumer confidence. For Example you plan in future projects taking into account current employee productivity, machine capacity, and available inventory using MIETrak pro data and you notice you can't meet demand, you can now make a decision ahead of time on whether to take on extra staff, outsource work or invest in new machinery.
MIETrak Pro's wide range of scheduling capabilities are designed to meet any companies requirements You can use all these scheduling tools in unison or individually as needed by your company. Our three main areas of scheduling include:
Backwards (Infinite) Scheduling
Backwards Scheduling, based completely on the customer due date, is an infinite schedule that calculates automatically when work orders are released. Backwards Scheduling is the most basic form of scheduling and is completely automated. When releasing a work order, it automatically assigns target start and end dates to each sequence, as well as BOM requirement dates based on pre-defined parameters.
APS (Advanced Planning Schedule)
APS is a form of finite forward scheduling that provides the ability to run “what if” scenarios. Use this for new machine loading, populating expected completion dates of work orders, and purchasing requirement dates. APS uses a complex set of scheduling algorithms to determine how to best load the shop resources. These resources are loaded in 15-minute increments. As a job finishes at its first sequence within the simulation, MIE Trak Pro makes that job available for scheduling at its next sequence.Comparing the target start dates and/or priority numbers between the available jobs in the work center, MIE Trak Pro makes a decision on prioritizing those jobs on a given resource.
Whiteboard Scheduling
Whiteboard allows for the intuitive manual scheduling of resources. If distinct machine loading is required, MIE Trak Pro Whiteboard offers full control over what jobs are to be run on what machines at what time. Although completely manual, it too uses machine-style loading. Whiteboard scheduling is the most flexible and easily controllable form of scheduling.
Although the end goal of any scheduling system is to produce a job list, the methods and details on how that job list is created, can greatly impact the effectiveness of that job list within a specific company. The MIE Solutions support team are here to help you identify and implement the best style of scheduling for your business. Each has its own set of distinctions, the following chart displays some of those.
